My first ever visit to the water park and it was certainly an enjoyable experience! Here’s our Alton Towers Splash Landings water park review.
Situated within the Splash Landings Hotel at Alton Towers Resort is the Splash Landings water park, a place designed with fun in mind and exclusively for families.
Targeted specifically at children there is theming plenty as this warm haven is the perfect escape from the cold temperatures we’ve been experiencing lately.
From lazy rivers to 3 indoor slides, not to mention rides outside there is something for everyone in this lovely little escape.
Whilst much smaller in scale to that of Waterworld in Stoke and Sandcastle Waterpark in Blackpool Splash Landings has a younger audience in mind with a kids area complete with mini-slides, buckets, a play area assault course and more.
Vibrant in colour and full of vantage points where water guns rain down on people in the pool below it’s great fun and the temperature is absolutely perfect with the water warming me right up after a day walking around the park in the freezing cold.

The outside area is quite spacious with a Bubbly Wubbly pool which is wonderfully warm even if the air is cold and the slides themselves are great fun with a choice of routes down to the bottom.
Indoor slides consist of Rush & Rampage which are two slides where you can choose from five funky music and light themes before you speed into the Splashdown Pool.
Master Blaster was certainly a highlight for me as this indoor water coaster sends you racing through its layout and you’re on it for quite a bit!
It’s very similar to Nucleus at Waterworld but for me, the layout, the first drop and the duration of the ride certainly takes the crown over its local Staffordshire rival.
What I didn’t like about the indoor rides is the queuing up to get a ring, it wasn’t that busy a day at the park yet there were a shortage of rings.
You have a single ring queue or a double ring queue if you wanted to ride with a friend but instead of collecting a ring like you normally would you had to wait for people to come down the slide and pass you whatever ring they came down on before you head into another queue for the ride itself.
I thought this was absolutely ridiculous as about 10 double riders came down yet no single riders were coming down meaning an even longer wait for single rafts.
It was a real pain and then to queue for the ride thereafter was equally as silly.

On a busy day you’d be waiting 2 hours if not longer for this ride. On a quiet day at the park, I still had to wait 40 minutes just to get a ring and another 20 minutes to get on the ride!
Was it worth the wait?
Well, yes, in this case, it was.
The facilities were great, the park was in great condition and all of the staff were lovely and friendly.
I can imagine this place gets absolutely heaving in the summer so now would be the best time to visit but you certainly won’t be disappointed if you’re going with the family.
No pool goes deeper than 1.4M so if you have young ones make sure they’re wearing their floaties and they can go on just about every single ride within the park.
If you’re older and have no children then you may still have a laugh on some of the slides (if you don’t mind waiting) but this park certainly isn’t for you and a trip to Waterworld or the even more adrenaline-inducing range of slides at Sandcastle WaterPark in Blackpool would certainly be more up your alley.
